Behind the design at Cedar Grove
Creating a home is about more than how it looks. It's about creating spaces that feel welcoming, work for everyday life and reflect the people who live in them.
For our new show home at Cedar Grove, Birchencliffe, we've teamed up with interior design specialists Nestled to bring the interiors to life.
We caught up with Faye Goddard from Nestled to talk about the inspiration behind the design, her favourite features and the details visitors should look out for.
Q&A with Faye Goddard, Nestled
What was the inspiration behind the show home design?
"We started with the colour palette, choosing warm cappuccino and taupe tones, with touches of bronze and rust. We wanted the design to sit beautifully alongside the Newett Homes brand while creating a warm and inviting feel.
One of the first things we chose was a beautiful floral wallpaper for the kitchen diner, featuring clover and grasses. It brings warmth, texture and interest to the space."
How did you want people to feel when they walked through the door?
"Relaxed! Show homes can sometimes feel quite pristine, but we wanted people to feel like they were walking into a friend's or family member's home. Somewhere they could settle in, feel comfortable and really imagine themselves living there."
Which room was your favourite to design?
"Surprisingly, it was the smallest bedroom! We've designed bedroom three for a little boy, making the most of its lovely alcove by creating a cosy sleeping and reading nook.
We've introduced blue and red stripes, darker furniture and vintage toys to give it a traditional feel with a modern twist."
How have you combined practicality with beautiful design?
"We've introduced bespoke banquette seating into the dining area. It's been custom-made to sit neatly against the wall, helping to keep the walkways clear and make the most of the space.
It also helps open up the kitchen diner, particularly alongside the patio doors."
Are there any special details visitors should look out for?
"We use lots of preloved and vintage pieces, alongside handmade accessories and artwork. Look out for details such as visible brushstrokes in artwork, ornate vases and pieces that have their own individual character.
These little touches help create a more lived-in and personal feel."
What advice would you give someone looking to make their new-build home their own?
"Don't rush the process! The best spaces are built over time. It's tempting to buy everything and decorate straight away, but take time to live in your home, experiment with layouts and work out how you want each room to feel and function."
